KARIC Opening Ceremony 25 July 2019
The Korea Academic Recognition Information Centre (KARIC) held the KARIC Opening Ceremony at the Novotel Ambassador Dongdaemun on 13 June 2019.
In conjunction with the opening ceremony, KARIC held a Workshop on the Korean Qualifications Recognition and Higher Education System, and shared the current status of qualifications recognition at national level, and information on the higher education systems of Korea, Viet Nam, and Australia on the following day.
A total of 36 guests from 10 countries, including directors, representatives, and experts of the Korean Ministry of Education, Korean Council for University Education (KCUE), Nuffic Neso Korea, the National Institute for Lifelong Education, the Korean Council for University College Education (KCCE), the Korean National Commission for UNESCO, UNESCO Bangkok, Viet Nam National Academic Recognition Information Centre (VN-NARIC), and the Australian Government Department of Education and Training attended the ceremony and offered their congratulations on the official opening of the KARIC.
Meekyung Shin, Director of the Korean Ministry of Education, said that KARIC would contribute to promoting mobility and strengthening cooperation in higher education. Jongbo Yim, President of KCUE, said KARIC would further expand its function and scale in the future.
Tran Thi Ngoc Bich, Director of VN-NARIC, and Elizabeth Campbell-Dorning, Counselor of the Australian Government Department of Education and Training, delivered congratulatory remarks.
Wesley Teter, Senior Specialist of UNESCO Bangkok, talked about the meaning of the Tokyo Convention and Dongseok Seo, Director of KARIC, gave a presentation on the Past, Present, and Future of KARIC.
KARIC announced its new start through a Signboard Awarding and Ribbon Cutting.
The ceremony was organized to celebrate the designation of KARIC as a National Information Centre (NIC) on 2 April 2019.
KARIC was established in 2017 and laid the foundation for the implementation of the Asia-Pacific Regional Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education in Korea.
